I am a long time user of version 9 and after not using it for a number of months decided to use V10 and reloaded it on to my desktop.  I run Xplane on MacBook Air late 2010 model.  After loading XPlane 10 it opened and recognized the CH yoke during calibration.  However when I went to run mode the aircraft went into an uncontrollable spiral dive and crashed.   Controls were not responding.

It sounds like you may have only completed the initial quick calibration, which probably did not set all the axis properly. Please start the sim and open the settings menu > joystick & equipment. You will probably need to set the drop downs to the correct type. Here are additional instructions with images to help.
