If we presume that we do not want users to change settings, it's fair to say we also do not want them answering "YES" to the question - "Do you want to update X-Plane?"

This is highly applicable to training versions of X-Plane sold commercially, using commercial keys.  As a developer working on just such a product, I want to be sure that highly sensitive training deployments are not adversely disturbed.

What say you?

This is a good point I had not considered. I am double checking with a developer and we'll get back to you as soon as possible with the answer. (There may be some delay due to the holiday.)

As of 11.20, kiosk mode does not prevent update alerts.

Edited to add: For commercial deployment, you can simply uncheck the "Notify my about new updates to X-Plane" box in Settings > General. (Note that this is only available when using a Pro-Use key.)
