Hello, I have been an MSFS user for years, thinking of changing over to X-Plane11 for a change. I now use FSX in Steam and will probably do the same with X-Plane11.

Was wondering if trying the trial verson offered here would cause any issues if I decide to purchase it through Steam or not.  My machine is pretty good with FSX although it is not a full blown gaming machine, I have very little stuttering with heavy scenery but I can live with it no more than it is.

I looked for previous questions but wasn't able to find any, if it has already been addressed, I apologize, if someone could send me a link to it, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for any suggestions.....

Download the free X-Plane 11 demo here and try. You can read more about system requirements for X-Plane 11 here. The full version of the simulator will perform exactly the same as the demo - neither better nor worse.

You can buy X-Plane Steam or X-Plane Digital Download. These are separated products, so you cannot activate Digital Download on Steam. Steam requires an internet connection and log in each time you run X-Plane in the future. When you purchase the Digital Download edition, you will receive an email confirmation with your product key. This key will allow you to download, install, and use X-Plane 11 without needing any other products (like Steam). You should also read answers here and here.

Thanks, great info!

Is there any performance loss by using it on Steam or not being able to use something that you would have by not using Steam?  Other than having to have an internet connection.

I have my FSX on Steam now and it seems to work better than when I had it installed directly. Don't know if it's just my old timers imagination or not.

Thanks

I think, there should be no problems with performance using X-Plane on Steam. For help regarding the Steam version of X-Plane, check the Steam Community Forums.
