first, this Q&A site is extremely well done, very impressed.

please let the devs know.

my question:

Can you offer a paused start?

Reason: Loading of x-plane can take 10 minutes easily, time to get something from the fridge.

and that is where you miss the start of the game, all you see is your cessna ramming into the ground.

The idea is to hold flight and let the game load all stuff in the background before you actually release the pause button. imagine that saved flights include midair situations which seek resources and inputs immediately.

I support this request. Add a paused start option, please!

I agree, this would be an awesome feature! I wonder if someone with the know how could make a plugin??

from my perspective xplane already has a lot of plugins made by 3rd party.

i would love to see the developer integrating achievements into new versions as then being default set, so not everything has to be re-done again and again after each release.

the paused start is standard in all other flight sims by the way.

Hi Marco,

I am not with Laminar Research; just a flight simmer.

What do you mean by a "paused mode"?

When you initialize X-Plane and as part of the setup configuration you can elect to start the plane at the terminal or parking area (light aircraft)  with no engines running or at the end of the runway with the engine(s) running awaiting takeoff clearance and performing the final checklist before releasing the handbrake to advance down the runway.

The scenario of no engines running in the parking area provides a "cold and dark" situation whereby you can carry out all of your check lists as part of your safety procedures.

Hope this answers your situation of not  "seeing the Cessna ramming into the ground" after having sourced your flight refreshments.

Glenn,

you fly from la guardia to the hamptons and then back into the big apple.

your position now is (example) mid air, some miles east of la guardia and you prepare

for descend. Skyline popping up. follow me so far?

For future training purposes you save this very situation, before resuming flight.

So, what you have saved here, is a plane at mid alt at mid speed somewhere east of NYC, okay? This is where flight will continue next time you start x-plane and this saved situation.

Still not clear?

Ok. One day later you start x-plane and you chose that specific situation, let's call it "747 APP NYC.sit" to load.  Once the situation has loaded, your airplane has already a speed of 300 knots and is heading towards the skyline of Manhattan. Agree?

While your flight is loading, and loading, and loading (your PC is mid aged and NYC scenery takes 10 minutes to load, you may have decided to leave the computer room and get a beer from the fridge.  The kitchen is downstairs.

when you come back to your computer room you will see 300 dead passengers sprayed all over long island.

Clear?

Tell me if this is still unclear, i will be happy to make a movie.

Hi Marco,

Apologies for the delay in responding to your answer back to me.

Having now read your response I understand your dilemma.  Unfortunately I am not able to offer a solution.  My initial response was based on a different interpretation of the problem.

I hope you find an answer soon.
