Hi,

I recently installed x-plane 11 demo on 2 machines, a mac mini, and Dell XPS laptop.

Both were fine with x-plane 10, but with x-plane 11, the performance is sluggish, as well as controls.

Mac mini config:

  Model Name:    Mac mini
  Model Identifier:    Macmini5,1
  Processor Name:    Intel Core i5
  Processor Speed:    2.3 GHz
  Number of Processors:    1
  Total Number of Cores:    2
L2 Cache (per Core):    256 KB
  L3 Cache:    3 MB
  Memory:    4 GB

Intel HD Graphics 3000:

Chipset Model:    Intel HD Graphics 3000
  Type:    GPU
  Bus:    Built-In
  VRAM (Dynamic, Max):    384 MB
  Vendor:    Intel (0x8086)
  Device ID:    0x0126
  Revision ID:    0x0009
  Displays:

The Dell XPS config:

Win10 64bit, 8 GB Ram, HDD 250GB SSD, 750GB SATAII, nvidia GeForce GT 540M 2GB RAM dedicated video memory, and 4GB shared video memory.

I'm expecting the Dell XPS should be good enough for graphics apps, and i minimized the graphics parameters to the min... Any advise?

Your systems are probably near the bottom of X-Plane 11's recommended specs. In addition to reducing all rendering options, make sure you aren't using AI aircraft and use clear weather as much as possible. If you'd like to try adjusting the rendering settings, you can find step by step instructions here.
