How can I get the rudder pedals to work correctly?

Previously I asked for help in getting my throttle to work. I followed the advice given, which involved getting the assistance of a local IT engineer. Fine - the throttle now works correctly. However the 'cure' has caused the rudder pedals to work in reverse, ie left rudder steers right and vice versa, and the rudder calibration option has disappeared. And if a 'solution' requires me to send off parts of my program some advice on how to do this will be required as that would be beyond my pay grade.

Please open the settings > Joystick screen. Check to see if the box "reverse axis" is checked as this will make them function in reverse.

If this is not the issue, please attach a copy of the log.txt and screenshot of the joystick settings screen.

Sorry, this is not the issue. The joystick settings page is in total confusion at present.:

(1) Axis 0 responds to rudder pedal only;

(2) Axis 1 responds to toe brake RIGHT

(3) Axis 2 responds to toe brake LEFT - ticking the boxes results in the same assignments. There is no provision for assigning the yoke or throttle, though the latter now seems to be working OK. Sorry but I haven't a clue how to send you folders. I'm working on the screenshot request.

You can attach screenshots or the log.txt file to comments by clicking on the icon that looks like a black piece of paper with a + in it, in the comment's tool icons.

I think a screenshot will tell me the most, because it almost sounds like you haven't assigned the axes correctly. If the device doesn't come with a default assignments file, you will need to assign everything by hand.

Thanks for your response. The latest development is that although the throttle works correctly the air craft no longer goes into 'take off mode'. ie it doesn't move off in response to full throttle. It will happily move in a circle - in the wrong direction. The 'game' is completely unplayable to the moment. I'm now going try and attach the documents you asked for; please read them in conjunction with my original comments.

The log.txt shows that the CH Yoke has uncalibrated axes, and the pedals are not centered. I would recommend using the gray "calibrate" button next to the Device drop down first, to recalibrate all the devices. Move both the yoke & the pedals through the full range of motion, then complete the rest of the pop up's directions.

Your assignments don't look wacky to me, so if that doesn't fix the issue, I would next recommend using the "reset to defaults" button at the bottom of the screen, then going through the whole set up process along with the tutorial video.

Well you've hit upon something I hadn't previously mentioned -  calibration. Before  contacting you I had tried many times to calibrate my equipment, following carefully all the instructions given and now repeated in your video and my yoke and rudder are recognised by the system. Every time when I get to the end of the procedure the pop-up gives me only one option - CANCEL. The NEXT button is disabled for no apparent reason. In a previous message you asked whether the associated boxes had been ticked, well they hadn't but I know they are there and I know their effect. Despite all the problems, the following all look to be centred: mixture, prop, throttle, pitch and roll. I stress that all these problems have only arisen since I updated.

If the problems came up after updating, are you by any chance overwriting default config files? (The .joy files in Resources > joystick configs.) In general, if a device comes with a default config file (you can often tell because there will be an image included in the settings screen) any changes you make will save to preferences. We don't recommend saving as default because it overwrites the default config file and the installer will want to overwrite every time you update.

I would like to know more about the calibration issues you're having. Are you able to pass the first screen with the red & blue axis bars, and then you get stuck at the next screen? Can you attach a picture of that? (If you aren't aware, by default the keys Shift + space will take a screenshot in-sim.)

Sorry but the first para of your latest is a complete mystery to me. The main problem we are up against, as I see it, is that we cannot configure the pedals simply because they have not been properly assigned - my comments in response to your message of 31/7 still apply. Again I've gone through the 'pedal calibration' but this time the red and blue page just disappears at the final stage. I'm sending you progressive screen shots at various stages of the process. Shift + space does NOT take screen shots and the alternative method of calibration you describe doesn't work either.

Based on your screenshots, calibration should have been successful. All red bars in the first screen turned blue, so the Next button was available (and the skip or ignore buttons next to the bars went away as well).

Each axis has an assignment. If these assignments are incorrect, you can change them by clicking on the drop down menus.

Press the left pedal down. Watch which bar moves. Set it to left toe brake.

Press the right pedal down. Watch which bar moves. Set it to right toe brake.

Move each pedal for the rudder control, watch which bar moves, and set that to yaw.

I followed you instructions and all the problems now seem to have been resolved. It turns out I had overlooked the drop-down menus. Many thanks.
