imageDownload file

the issue began sometime yesterday , ive tried to use the updater to fix whatever problem exists but having trouble updating most of the time.

I get a msg stating" to please try the updater later, technical problem, was permission denied perhaps you do not have access to a particular directory or file system"

You can look is at the preferences too. Move the preferences folder (found in the Output folder) to the desktop, then restart X‑Plane and default preferences will be restored. If the default preferences do not fix your problem, you can simply replace them with the folder you moved to the desktop and restore your personalized settings.

The final common culprit is third party add ons, such as scenery and plugins. Try moving the Custom Scenery folder and plugins folder (found in the Resources folder) to the desktop, then restart X-Plane.

thanks for responding, ive tried everyone of your suggestions except moving the scenery folder even though I'm operating with the exact same add-ons for a while.

curious though how any of what you have suggested interferes with my ability to update xplane and the constant errors I get as mentioned in my first posting.

For the permission denied issue, please make sure you're using the latest version of the installer, then upload a copy of the installer log.txt.

Permission denied errors usually indicate the write permissions on a folder or specific file have gotten messed up. If you can't copy anything to the problem locations listed in the log, that would indicate it's a problem with the folder and not the installer.

So as advised, I used the latest launcher and the update still failed, please see log attached.

Thanks

The log lists the problem file here:

C:\Users/Stanley/Desktop/X-Plane 11/Resources/default scenery/1000 world terrain/textures10/loveg/wetl_wdy_wrm_wet_c2.dds

Please navigate to this file and see if you can copy it to the desktop or not. If you can't, check the permissions on the file itself.

I saw the issue and was able to have it resolved by removing the offending file and then updating and all was well again.

Thanks for your efforts much appreciated.
