Hi Ivo,
I am not with Laminar Research; just a flight simmer living downunder.
I have the Aerosoft boxed version. Although I preferred to purchase the boxed set from Laminar Research I found out that Aerosoft is licenced by Laminar Research to sell, as their agent, in Europe and the Pacific Region. The other deciding factor was the price. I was able to purchase at a good price (discount offer through my local distributor) and the exchange rate.
The only difference between the Aerosoft version and the Laminar Research version is that Aerosoft has added extra aircraft on the 9th DVD disc, otherwise both versions are the same. You will need to consider exchange rates and postage rates from your purchaser to your residence.
With the discs from either supplier there is no password key provided/available/supplied. The unfortunate situation with the disc version is that you will need to have Disc 1 in the DVD drive all the time.
Don't be fooled by a Key provided within the boxed set from Aerosoft. This is an advertising ploy to get you to purchase other products at a discount rate when this number is quoted.
Go for the boxed version as the download for some is rather lengthy. For some the download can take hours depending on your download speed and from which server it downloads from. The size of the full download is in the order of 8GB.
As a side issue stay away from any Steam version. It is not the official x-plane version. It has been developed by a 3rd party taking a commercial advantage of the development work by Laminar Research.
Good luck and welcome to the world of X-Plane.
Glenn
