Hello,

I have just purchased  X-Plane 11 and I cannot get the FPS higher than 10 FPS, I'm running Windows 10, 4.5ghz CPU, 32Mb ram and the Video card is a AMD Radeon R7 240 core. I have set all of the graphics setting to minimal settings with no help. followed all of the recommendations from the forums with no help as well. do you think It's the video card and if so, what video card would you suggest?

Thanks

Hi rihollis

I'm not with Laminar Research, just a fellow simmer in the UK, but the reported low fps is something that is widely reported by many people, although there can be many reasons for it.

One reason could be your graphics card, which according to AMD only has 2GB of RAM memory. It should work OK, but is nevertheless borderline as far as X-Plane 11's minimum requirements are concerned.

The recommended graphics card would be a GeForce GTX1070 or AMD equivalent.

In terms of your CPU, without knowing the precise spec, it would be difficult to know if this is a factor?

Other issues could be the amount of addon scenery packages you have installed, as these could be limiting your PC's performance?

Hope this helps for now?

Thanks for the very fast response.

Do you know if the XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS XXX Edition 1386MHz OC+, 8GB GDDR5, VR Ready, Dual BIOS, 3xDP HDMI DVI, AMD Graphics Card (RX-580P8DFD6) will work as I can get it at a really good price?

Thanks again

The card is good, but you need to get to the bottom of your situation

Hi Rick

Yes in theory the card, with 8GB VRAM is more than acceptable and although it shouldn't be an issue, before you commit, just make sure that the rest of your PC system can accommodate it i.e. the motherboard, power supply and case size?

1. These graphics cards are quite large in physical size, so question, will it fit in your PC case?

2. The bus interface is PCI-E, can your motherboard accommodate this?

3. The recommended power supply (PSU) for this graphics card is 550W,  so question, is your PSU large enough?

Hope this helps
