X-Plane mixture axis bouncing back to 0

Question

Somehow my X-plane started acting differently, when I try to increase my mixture it always goes back to 0. It snaps straight to a certain value, then quickly returns to 0. I've tried resetting my preferences, and still did not work. Log.txt looks normal, nothing erroneous regarding the mixture. Is it a bug? I'm currently using the saitek yoke and my Xplane is in the newest version. Thank you.

I'm not with Laminar Research, just a fellow simmer in the UK, but have you properly configured your throttle flight controls within X-Plane 11's joystick settings page, as per the photo below?

I'm not sure what aircraft you are flying or which flight control set you are using, but you may also have to select the 'reverse axis' check box to get the mixture to work correctly?

PS Under no circumstances should you be using any third party software to configure your flight control system, as it all can be done within X-Plane 11's settings pages!

Thank you for your response. The zibo and ssg e jets evolution, doesn't work at all. I don't have any 3rd party software for managing the control mappings and reverse axis doesn't seem to fix it.

I fly the Zibo 737-800X and 737-900U quite a lot, so I'm trying to understand what you mean by the word 'mixture' in this context?

Are you referring to the fuel levers for starting the engines, or something else?

When I try the normal start procedure the engines wont start,with the mixtures at 0 the plane wouldn't even open the start valve, so when you move the engine switch to continuous Ignition nothing happens. Once I had this issue and for a brief moment it went away and things worked fine, and it's back again.

I'm just in the middle of a SAAB 340A flight, but will revert later this evening with the procedure that I use for engine start on the Zibo 738 & 739.

Can you confirm the exact aircraft you are referring to in your last post?

Hi again

As promised, here are my procedures for starting the engines on the Zibo 738 or 739.

I am going to assume that you have already taken the aircraft from a dark & cold state and have all of the electronic, instrumentation, fuel & hydraulic pumps switched on? I will also assume that you are currently running on ground power?

1. Switch on APU

2. Switch on APU generators 1 & 2 when power available

3. Switch APU bleed on (to provide compressed air for main engine start) and both engine bleeds are off

4. Switch ground power off

5. Ensure L & R packs are switched off, as this will rob compressed air from the APU, that is  required to start the main engines

6. Switch engine 2 starter to GRD, right engine will now spool up

7. When engine 2 has spooled to 20% N2, lift mixture lever from cut off to idle

8. Repeat for engine 1

9. Switch on engine's 1 & 2 generators

10. Switch on both engine bleeds and turn off APU bleed

11. Switch off APU

12. Switch L & R packs and isolation valve to auto

Once you've gone through this procedure, you should be good to go!

My bad I meant that when I move the switch to GRD, the engine don’t spool up. And I’ve tried to start my engines in your exact procedures the engine just stay the same, no “start valve open” message. And then there is this “ENG FAIL” message on the eicas. For the e jets it says “eng 1 fuel sov closed” when I managed to get the mixture to go to 100% the message goes away, just right away my mixture goes back to 0 and the message is back.

I am not from Laminar Research; just a flight simmer from downunder.

What Greengolfer15 means by "3rd party software" for your hardware, especially the software products like your throttle quadrant, is the Saitek software or now Logitech.software.  It just does not work despite having a new brand name.

X-Plane is unlike other flight sim packages.  All hardware, irrespective of the brand, has to be installed through X-Plane.  Not even through your operating system or using software supplied with the item.  If you have already installed the saitek software on your PC then you need to remove all remnants of the software from your system using a good quality file removal package.  While the removal process is under way find all of your saitek discs for all products and then dig a deep hole in your back yard and bury it, never to be seen again. 

Good luck in finding a solution.

I've tried to replicate the failure you have experienced in my Zibo 737-700 and failure of the engines to spool when the engine starter is set to GRD, is something that I can only achieve if the APU is not switched on and the APU bleed is also not switched on.

Whatever I try, I cannot get any warning messages up on ECAS whatsoever?

Just a thought, but could it be possible that you have inadvertently set up an engine failure in the X-Plane 11 Failures page?

I checked in the X-Plane menus, and there is no failures set up. I'm honestly more and more hopeless now.

Could it be that since I switch between the extreme 3d joystick and the Saitek pro flight yoke, creates problems in the control mapping? When I fly the bus I use the extreme 3d joystick and when I fly the Boeing, Cessna or some other GA planes I use the yoke.

I sometimes swap between my Thrustmaster joystick and my Logitech yoke setup and this has never caused me a problem before!

Anyway, all of the original discussion about flight controls began simply because I thought your problem was related to the mixture control, such as that you would find in a GA aircraft such as a Cessna or Beechcraft Baron.

However, it now appears that the problem is not being able to spool up the engines in a Zibo 737 and similar airliners. 

Before we go any further, please confirm that my assumption is correct?

On a GA plane, the mixture stays at 0, can't move can't start the engines. Then I decided to fly the airliner this being 737, a350, e jets and so on. I thought it would work since there is no "mixture" levers in the airliners. To my surprise I can't start the engines after pushback, so I did some more research on the topic. I found out that there are people who experienced the same issues as me in the ssg e jet, they said it was a problem with their mixture controls. So I decided to debug my mixture ratio using the X-Plane feature at displays the values of the mixture on the top left corner. When I move my lever up the value increases for a split second before falling back to 0. I'm trying to fix this issue with assuming it would make the engines of my planes being able to start again, or at least make the GA planes flyable.

Finally, it turns out that XLua is the issue, when I disabled it the mixture control works just fine. I don't know why or how XLua creates this issue.
