I'm not sure I understand the question. Please make sure you are using the correct map mode for what you're looking for. There are three available: VFR sectional, IFR low & High enroute. Each one will show different things.
Like in X-Plane 10, you can click on the icons to get more information such as the distance, and NAV frequencies, and even tune radios or set up the approach.
