X- plane manual say's that's  what you should do before installing x-plane 11.  I have more than than enough space on my drive for both.

Did you buy via Steam or Laminar Research?
Via Laminar Research, there is no problem. You can have both installed in separate folders.

I will be buying from Laminar Research.  I just have not decided yet if I want to get it thru the internet or get the DVD disks.  I've got x-plane 9 & 10 on DVD and I'm leaning that way for 10.  Up here in Wis. we have Spectrum internet which is fast and pretty reliable.  Having those material DVD's seems more permanent but I'm really open to changing.  All I need is someone to convince me to go the internet download.

You do not have to delete X-Plane 10. You can install both X-Plane 10 and X-Plane 11. You can read more about Installing of X-Plane here: manual, Digital Download, DVD.
