Hi Ryan,

X-plane Steam is not the official X-Plane (Laminar Research) version.  There is no official connection between both groups.  The Laminar Research version is the original official version.  Steam is a third party reseller taking a commercial advantage of the original development work by Laminar.

By the way, Steam created a disk version before Laminar Research released their official disc version.

You should be raising your question with the Steam version fraternity not through the official X-Plane fraternity.

Hi,

I do agree with Glenn.

Here, though, the answer is simple : yes.

If you struggle to find where X-plane has been installed by Steam, open Steam, right click on X-plane 11 and choose "browse files" or similar.

A downloaded plane has to be unzipped and placed in "X-plane 11/aircraft" folder.

It is very important to read all included instructions because some aircraft might require more steps.

One last thing : for some aircraft, on X-plane aircraft selection window, you need to check the box "show aircraft from previous versions" in order to see them in the list.

Regards,
Guillaume

So what is the correct or best version, Download or Steam? This is very confusing, as your say

"X-plane Steam is not the official X-Plane (Laminar Research) version.  There is no official connection between both groups.  The Laminar Research version is the original official version.  Steam is a third party reseller taking a commercial advantage of the original development work by Laminar"

...Seems odd that Laminar will tollerate this pirating, or am I missing the point completely?

Thanks for clarification.
