I am attempting to install the 11.10 beta.  I have moved the folder to different locations (including the Windows 10 desktop), made sure Permissions were in order-   still the same error message.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

We just recently uploaded a new version of the installer that has better logging to investigate these types of problems. Please download a copy here and try it again. Then post a copy of the installer log.txt from the desktop if you are still having problems.

Please attach a copy of the full log. You can use the icon that looks like a black piece of paper with a + in it to do so.

How are you installing X-Plane? With digital download or DVDs?

You said you've moved the folder and fixed the permissions--exactly how did you do that?

Is this a second install or are you trying to update your only copy of X-Plane to the beta? (Not recommended.)

The problem file is this one:

C:\Users/Doug/Desktop/X-Plane 11-USA/Resources/map data/water/-40-070/-32-061.shp

That is the file path--please find the file and check the permissions of this one file specifically, and let me know exactly what you find.

Thanks.  I will take a look at that file.  I am installing a digital download from the installer, updating Version 11.05 to 11.10 beta.  I have moved the folder from the desktop (its original location) to an from the "C" drive and now back to the desktop.  In terms of fixing the permissions, I followed the directions for changing permissions for folders on Windows 10 that are available online.

Are you recommending a clean download of X-Plane 11 rather than updating?  Is the 11.10 beta available as a clean download?

Thanks for your help with this!

It appears as though I do have permissions for that folder and file.  Strange.  Would it be worth renaming the file to see if the installation proceeds?

A couple more things to try with this problem file:

  1. Can you copy it to the desktop?
  2. Can you delete it from the folder?
If either of those fail we'll try to get you a new installer with better diagnostics for debugging.

Thank You.  Solved!  Moving the file out of that folder and onto the desktop allowed the installation process to continue and all is good now.  Thanks!

"An error occurred during scenery installation:

Permission denied. Perhaps you do not have access to a directory or file system.

You can continue with the installation and attempt to reinstall the damaged files later,or you can stop the installation."

I've been trying to install the game on my computer for 2 days.
