Hi Oldbold,

Firstly, I am not with Laminar Research just another simmer.

As it is a laptop you need to consider a digital download purchased from the the official developer being Laminar Research.  Steam version is a 3rd party company who take a commercial advantage of what Laminar Research have created.  The latest version is XP11.05.  XP.10 is still in development (beta) stage and will be released in the near future.

You haven't indicated whether you want to run windows version or Linux.  Obviously it is not a Mac.

Despite all of the bells and whistles regarding your laptop is it a gaming machine?  The unit should have good cooling as X-Plane generates quite amount of heat in the CPU and graphics card.  If not the system will crash as it heats up.  Because the laptop is quite thin suggests there is insufficient cooling

Check the system requirements at   If you are satisfied the laptop system is ok then download the demo version of the software at    You will be restricted to a time limit at any one time at a set location of being able to use the software for approximately 10 minutes.  Should you have no problems then purchase the software.  All you will then have to do is activate the software as there will be no need to download again.

Although XP11 is now the official release,  XPlane 10.51 can still be acquired from Laminar Research as a download. There will be no further updates for this product. Although XP10 is "resource hungry" it is not as severe as XP11.  This may be an alternative sofware package.

To get the best image ie be able to read the print on your laptop screen, you may have to dumb down the image to 1920 x 1080.  Xplane is designed for 1920 x 1080 projection.

If you intend to attach an additional joystick and or pedals etc you most likely will have to connect via a USB 2.0 connection  on you laptop for them to work..

Hope this helps and doesn't put you off from XPlane.
