Hello!

First, sorry for that "bad" english... ;)

I want to change from FSX to X Plane 11. I still have to buy XPlane, so i will have the actual version.

First question: What System du you recommend? I want to buy a new pc. I already have a offer, i will attach that at last - please let me know what you think about that offer?!

Second question: Does XPlane 11 support a 6 Core (like that in my offer) or would you buy a good 4 Core?

I really want to "play" XPlane 11 with the sliders fully right and i dont want to get frames under 25 - 30 per second...

I also know from FSX - i still need a few addons like planes and airports and and and...

So i need a very good PC and i still want to spend some money for that PC - but i dont want to buy the wrong System - spending a lot of money for that...

Here is the system offer from a dealer:

CPU 1151 – Intel Core i7-8700K

SPM SSD M.2 PCIe 3.0 - 250 GB Samsung 960 Evo (3200MB/s read-1500MB/s write)

SPM HDD SATA (3,5) – 2000 GB

32 GB RAM DDR 4 / 4x 8 GB 2666 Mhz Crucial Ballistix Sport LT

VGA PCIe – ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 TI Strix-GTX 1080 TI-11G-Gaming

MB 1151 Mainboard Asus Prime Z370P

GEH NT ATX 1000W low noise / be quiet Dark power pro 11

WIN 10 Home Premium DPK OA3.0 64Bit

4x PCIe USB3.1 Card, VIA, 4 port

Thanks for your (qualified) answers ;) !

Your hardware list qualifies as a high-end system (as of 2018).  X-Plane 11 will work very well with it.  Here is my personal experience…

  1. With an i7-7700K, I can max out the number of World Objects.  With a GTX 1060, 6GB, I max out the Visual Effect, and set Texture Quality to Maximum (one below the top setting), Antialiasing left in the midrange.  I am typically getting frame rates in the high 20's (or better) for simple aircraft; complex aircraft will drop it to low 20’s—which is the absolute tolerable minimum.  I believe this CPU is fine for X-Plane 11.
  2. I would definitely get the GTX 1080 as you have on your list.  Which I expect you’d then be able to “move all the sliders fully right”.  Unfortunately, the prices for gaming cards are sky-high at the moment!
  3. I have about 8 add-on aircraft, a dozen or so airports/sceneries, plus maybe 20 misc. add-ons.  Together with the entire global X-Plane scenery database, it’s taking 66GB of SSD storage.
  4. My 64-bit Windows10 system has 32GB of RAM.  I doubt X-Plane has ever consumed close to that much memory.
  5. I have X-Plane rendered on a 2560x1440 32” monitor.  Along with two 1920x1080 monitors to display charts and moving maps etc.

Have fun.  X-Plane 11 and FSX are not in the same league!

Thank you for your answer!

So i see, that your system has 4x 4,2 GHz.

I heard, that xplane is only working with max. 4 core´s, i dont know if that is right or wrong.

Do you know that?

If that is right, i think your cpu is better than my - because: You use 4 cores at 4,2GHz

- i use 4 (of 6) cores with 3,7 GHz... You know what i mean? ;)

I do not know how many cores X-Plane 11 can take advantage of.  I do have the following observations… While airborne, Windows’ Task Mgr shows that all four 7700K’s cores (and 8 threads) are evenly active.  The “utilization” rate fluctuates between 30% to 44%; rarely, almost never exceeding 50%.

While the base clock speed for the CPU is spec’ed at 4.2GHz, Task Mgr indicates 4.3GHz during X-Plane.  Apparently, the running frequency is demand-driven.  Keep in mind the 8700K’s Max Turbo freq is up to 4.7GHz.

With that in mind, if I’m getting a new system today, I would go for the 8700K.  The price delta is very small relative to the system cost.  The newer processor will most likely serve your/X-plane’s need longer.

Yes that es right. The single core speed is very high. I also found now a dealer from austria, who sells a complete system overclocked and checked for 24 hours stress test, with 2 years guarantee.

8700K OC to 5.0GHz (Watercooled) and the 1080 TI OC, with 32 GB Ram and 1TB SSD.

I think, this system will be my new ;)

Thank you for your answers !
