If I purchase a commercial license of X-Plane 11 and then X-Plane 12 comes out, will I need to re-purchase the commercial license for 12?

Hey Ben! Good question. Yes - every version of X-Plane like 9,10,11 are regarded as different products. That means that you must purchase a new license at each version upgrade. The run of each version is usually a few years however, it also includes many incremental updates like 11.20, 11.30, etc. Does that answer your question? Thanks!

Hi Ben,

I am not with Laminar Research; just a flight simmer.

When the change was made from XP10 to XP11 is was a complete change in software ability requiring a new purchase.

From earlier questions in this forum,  Laminar Research staff advised that "XP12 is not on our radar at this stage".  If and when it is developed and subsequently released I suspect it will be completely new system was was XP11.

Although your question is of some interest to the x-plane community I am of the opinion you should ask the question directly with Laminar Research at [email protected]

Thompson is from Laminar Research and has provided an official answer to your question as I was preparing my answer to you.  Disregard my comment regarding making direct contact with Laminar Research.

Good luck

Glenn
