First I do want to say I have asked about this before and even thought I had a fix for this. But again I cannot update my X-Plane 11. I have tried a lot of what I saw others say worked for them; turn off my firewall, make sure permissions are correct for X-Plane folders and files. None of them work
Problem:
I try to update my X-Plane 11 but it stops every time saying there is an error that permission was denied for a file it was trying to process. "Error processing E:\X-Plane 11/Resources/map data/water/+60-100/+63-099.shp: Permission denied. Perhaps you do not have access to a directory or file system"
I am running Windows 10. My X-Plane is on drive E: that is an SSD drive. I have checked the permissions for the drive as well as the folder, E:\X-Plane 11\. Modify File, Read & Execute, Read, Write, List Folder Contents all are checked. I even have run the installer as Administrator. I still get this message. But it should not get this message if all permissions are checked and also I am running as Administrator. So I am very sure this is a bug in the installer.
Other things I have tried: I turned off the firewall. That did not work. I rebooted my PC and first thing I did was try to run the installer. I get same thing. A few days ago I was trying update from 11.10 to 11.26 I saw for the permissions for E:\X-Plane 11\ under Users, that the Modify permission was not checked. I checked that and tried again and it worked. I was able to update. So here just a few days later I try to update to v11.30 with the same permissions set and it did not work. Please keep in mind that I have other software on this drive that do auto-updates and I never had any problems with them running. So again I feel strongly that this is a bug in the Installer program. This is becoming very annoying for me and I am sure it is for all the others I see that have the same problem.
