Bug in weather depiction?

Hi,

I loaded up in KBOS on March 4th , 0930GMT. The metar is reporting +SN FG VV004 01/M01. X-plane was depicting everything including temps and QNH per the METAR except it was heavy rain and thunderstorms, not snowing. Is this expected?
