Just got X-Plane 11 and was hoping to use it with my Thrustmaster USB Joystick (this is model name).

Unfortunately the joystick isn't working correctly, or configured correctly. When I let plane fly w/o touching joystick, the plane pitches up, then banks left, then pitches down by itself.

I've tried looking at the help part of the manual, and recalibrating the joystick several times, but can't seem to address the issue on my own. One thing the reviews say on Amazon about this joystick is that it has no yaw/rudder control, so maybe if I control that it'll work.

Help! Thanks for any suggestions as to what to do.

Hi eric,

I am not from Laminar Research; just a flight simmer from downunder.

You have not indicated how you have tried to configure the joystick   Any hardware to be used within X-Plane has to be configured within X-Plane.  No other way unlike other flight sim packages.  Do not try and configure your joystick through your operating system.

Firstly you need to remove totally any software used as part of the installation process from your PC and then put that software on the shelf never to be used again with X-Plane.

When done have a look at the following links found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2-PJxkYOSQ and     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU_TuALAlJk  and also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bi_gKycnTyg  from Michael Brown.

You need to watch the videos several times to follow the message.  In one of the videos disregard the product brand (saitek) but consider the concept of configuration.

If done correctly it will work.

Good luck

Glenn
