I am a new user to X-Plane (downloaded X-Plane 11 on 6/30/17), and have used Microsoft FSX for many years with the same hardware and no problems.  I have a Saitek Pro Flight Yoke that calibrated and worked with X-Plane 11 on the initial flight, but am having problems with the Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals not working.  Windows 10 shows the device status for the rudder pedals as: "This device is working properly."  The data output shows values of -1.0 to +1.0 for the aileron and elevator, but 0 for the rudder.    Before each flight, the following message pops up:

UNCONFIGURED JOYSTICK OR YOKE FOUND

  • An unconfigured input device "Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals" has been found.  This device has no axes or buttons assigned to any function.
  • That means these controls will be completely ignored until you configure them.
  • Would you like to configure your controls now?

When I select the "Open Joystick Configuration" and run through the calibration, everything looks normal.  However, when I try to fly the rudder does not move when changing position on the pedals.  Even though it goes through the calibration, it remains an unconfigured input device.

I have read the instruction manual in detail as well as gone through the Knowledge Base, but have not found an answer to this problem.  I am anxious to begin using X-Plane 11 instead of FSX.

This device does not have a default configuration file. So as the warning message says, you will need to configure all buttons and axes. This means you will need to manually assign them all in order to use them. For axes you will need to wiggle the device and then use the axis drop down to set the corresponding setting (pitch, yaw, throttle, etc). Full instructions here in the manual.

Thanks so much - I certainly appreciate your help.  I knew it must be something fundamental that I was missing, but couldn't figure it out.
