Can I connect a Garmin 496 to xplane?

Hello,

I've tried to connect my garmin 496 to my computer to use moving maps. I've connected it to a USB port, and followed the directions for configuration in x-plane. My first question is, should this work?  I put the gps in simulation mode, but it doesn't seem to receive data from x-plane. Any tips on what I may be missing?

Below are a couple of screen shots of my configuration. (If you can't see the screen shots, they are also in the attached word doc.)

The first is the Garmin in the device on my computer.  The second is the settings in the x-plane configuration.  As far aS I know, this is all I need for the setup. As far as I can tell, I don't need a Pro-use USB key.  Correct?  I started the GPS in simulation mode, and displaying a map, which shows an old map, and not the location in x-plane.  Any help would be appreciated.

In addition, I've added the screen shots to a word doc and attached the file which can be downloaded.  Hope this helps.
