how can i use my joystick and vr headset with x-plane 11 vr beta?

Question

my controls work peefectly with vr disabled.
I want to use them with the vr headset, however tthe camera shows them moving but nothing happens. e.g. when i pull up on the collective , push rudder pedals or move cyclic , the camera shows the movement, but the helicopter does not respond?

Iam using a R22 aircraft i had bought.
