Why am I lagging so much? (Steam Version)

So, I bought X-Plane 11 on steam, and it is very laggy and slow. Yes, I tried the demo and it worked perfectly. So what is going on?

The full version of the sim should perform exactly the same as the demo. The only difference is the time limit and world scenery.

There must be other factors involved--have you changed any settings or updated anything recently? Did you install any add ons?
