System Performance and FPS

Question

I downloaded the demo version to test xplane out before purchasing and it is really struggling with my system.  I'm barely getting 2 FPS.  I have completely wiped this computer with a fresh install of Windows 10.  I have even set all the scenery and graphics to the lowest setting.  My system is as follows:

AMD 4170 Quad Core 4.2 Ghz

24 GB RAM

NVIDIA Geforce 8400GS

I really want to get this and not have to go back to FSX so how do I get this running right

The demo will perform exactly the same as the full sim. If it does not run well on your system, do not purchase X-Plane. 

Your GPU jumps out to me right away--it looks like this model is 7-11 years old! Please review the system requirements for X-Plane 11, 10, or even 9.
