I have had x-plane 11 for more than a month, and when I first installed it and set the flight plan, the ATC would respond and equally I could communicate back to it. Also, I could ask for the altimeter request which it would feed that back to me.

Now nothing. ATC is dead silence.

When I am sitting at taxi and setting a flight plan, there are just no comms it just simply moves through its boxes without me having anything to communicate, which was no so.

I have not install any pluggings,

I have not selected multiplayer...

It worked and now its dead as a doornail.

I cannot even ask for permission to land...and when I land then I get the famous box of violation.....but if I could have communicated...

ATC does not even give me a direction to the airport...nothing....dead??????????

I did a file validation and I also re-installed x-plane 11 and I deleted all output preferences....HELP! I need ATC!!!!

And I have read all the comments, and checked all the youtube videos of how to use the ATC...done it, smoked the cigar and got the T-shirt...it is still dead???

Please help me sort out the ATC communication?

We have confirmed this is a real bug, and it is affecting Steam installs only. The install is missing files. For a temporary fix, you can install the replacements manually. We will put out an official fix on Steam as soon as possible.

Download the missing files here.

Unzip the files.

Go to the X-Plane root folder:

  • Right click on X-Plane
  • Choose Properties.
  • In the rising window choose LOCAL FILES.
  • And than choose BROWSE LOCAL FILES.

From there, go to Resources > default scenery > default ATC > Voices and replace the existing, empty "default" folder with the entire unzipped folder.

Are you at an airport that has ATC? Non-towered airports may not be able to interact with the ATC system.

Check for add ons that may be interfering. Try using the auto tune frequencies option to make sure you're on the frequency X-Plane expects.

For more specific help, provide specific details about the exact airport, aircraft, freq, etc you are trying to use.

Hi,

I am at Bournemouth Airport on the taxi, in a Baron. Planning a flight. After putting in the airport ID and the desired altitude, the ATC windows takes to Request Altimeter and taxi tab. But I get no squawk, no readbacks, which it did in the past, for this has been my desired Airport as I live nearby.

I have followed the examples showed on Youtube, I get as far the "Request Altimeter" tab. All the boxes are ticked for automatic frequency. Multiplayer is disabled also. This ATC coms did work and just out of the blue...lost it? I guess it maybe after a Steam update. This is so frustrating, I can't even communicate with any airport to land....keep violating the landing...grrrrr!

Do you have any AI aircraft enabled? They can "occupy" the ATC and make it so that you have to wait your turn to talk with them. Turning off AI may may it faster to use ATC. I went to EGHH and was able to go through all the steps up to taxi (file, altimeter, clearance, taxi).

No AI selected.

I did also, now I can't. I have not install anything. It is strange...I am lost for thoughts...

I am planning to take a short video of it, but cannot put it on this forum.

Hi,

After update by Steam yesterday (validation of files) ATC do not respond.Tried the proposed work- around on my Steam beta. Did not work. Communication to ATC even affected throttle setting. Rolling back to prev version.

Thx.

After a quick reinstall (could not roll back to 11,20!) the fix with missing files worked. Now just hours of downloading and setting it up again….
