Extinguisher works only in cabin view

Question

The fire finished only when I active the dataref "sim/cockpit2/engine/actuators/fire_extinguisher_on" with the cabin view active. If I use the outside view the engine on fire never fire off.

Please explain exactly how you set up the dataref (joystick button, key, etc, from which menu) and how you created the fire in the cabin.
