I purchased this and tried to run on my MacBook.  Not a good idea.  I want to transfer my key to my windows gamer PC.  How do I do this.  I will delete the existing xplane from original macbook once I get running on PC.

Hi Bradtje070

I'm just a fellow simmer in the UK (not from Laminar Research) and if I understand you correctly, you already have a valid working copy of X-Plane 11 on one PC, but you wish to have another copy of X-Plane 11 on a 2nd PC, so basically two copies of X-Plane 11 running, one on each of the 2 PC's?

Is this correct?

Hi again

You could achieve this one of three ways, but the catch is that you will have to purchase another Licence Key for the new copy, otherwise you will never be able to activate it:-

1. Copy your entire X-Plane root file structure from one PC to an external hard drive, then copy that to the 2nd PC

2. This only applies if your 2 PC's are linked on a home network, with share folder permissions set up, but basically copy one root file structure to the 2nd PC via the home network.

3. Download another copy of X-Plane 11 from Laminar Research website.

Whichever one of these you choose, as I said above, you will still need to purchase a another Licence Key!

Laminar Research states that its one licence for one copy of X-Plane 11.

Hope this helps?

Regards

PS Just be aware that the X-Plane root file structure is huge and it takes hours to copy from one directory to another!!

I think you can actually simply copy the entire X-Plane 11 folder structure from your old to your new PC.  Copy it via LAN or a USB drive, then run it.  The license is copied over as well.  Just that you’re allowed to run one instance of X-Plane per license at one time.

Hi Brad,

I am not with Laminar Research; just a flight simmer from down under.

To move  X-Plane from one PC to another is quite simple.  It is just a matter of "cut and paste"

Follow the advice from disc provided your original installation has been loaded onto your desktop or into a dedicated directory on your "C" drive and not within the operating system files.

Copy and paste X-Plane onto a portable drive of sufficient capacity from your old PC.  Then connect that drive onto your new PC and then copy and paste onto your new PC into a "dedicated" location.  It needs to be a dedicated location as X-Plane will not work if you paste into other file directories.

Everything should work as disc has indicated.

Be advised however, if you want to run 2 copies of X-Plane at the same time on each computer you will need to purchase another legal copy of the software along with the product key.  If you have a digital version you also have to be connected to the internet at all times as while you are running X-Plane I understand the software is also running a verification process to ascertain you are running a legal copy.  I understand if running 2 versions at the same time on one legal copy at least one possible 2  will shut down.

Have a look at this link found at https://www.x-plane.com/kb/x-plane-digital-download-xdd/

Good luck with your new PC.

Glenn
