Just purchased the VKB Gladiator MkII and cannot assign any functions to the(Green Mode)  ABC row buttons on base. They hold the same assignments as the (Red Mode).  X-Plane Org. returned my question about this with

"I do not believe the modes are support by X-Plane

You would need to run the VKB tool to support the modes"
Does anybody know if this is true?  How would a flight stick without 9 assignment buttons be useful? They work fine in Red Mode
Thanks for any insight you can provide

Hi PapaWoody,

I am not with Laminar Research or XForce PC; just a flight simmer from downunder.

Have a look at the following 2 YouTube links created by MIchael Brown who runs a business in the USA called XForce PC.  This company builds PCs predominantly fro X-Plane.   This company is the preferred supplier of PCs suitable for X-Plane within the USA  (stated in the X-Plane manual).

Have a look at the first link found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfYiUUZ2DaU whereby he provides an overview of the product.

In this second link found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBHJeE3xab8   Michael comments on the calibration process.  In his comments he makes mention that you have to perform your own calibrations and he also makes a comments that he is only demonstrating part of the calibration process.  To calibrate your "green" buttoms you will have to do some work yourself.

If you want to view all of Michael's informative videos then go to https://www.youtube.com/user/col2mab/videos

Good luck with the calibration.

I'm running X-Plane 11.30 with VKB Glad MkII.  When I open Settings:Joystick, press the mode key to "green light", and then press any of the buttons, my Settings dialog shows that mode button is not functional.  The same "red light" A1 to C3 assignments are activated.

The MODE button registers as button 29 and can be assigned a function, but there is nothing like a "shift button bank" function.  There are a number of "toggle" functions that this might be useful to have an indicator light that shows the mode.

As for "how would a flight stick without 9 assignment functions be useful?", I have seven buttons un-assigned and don't feel the "loss of 9 functions" diminishes the usefulness of the best stick I have owned in forty years of flight sims.
