4 frames per second??

Question

i have recently bought a lenovo ideacentre 310s-08asr with an amd 9 processor and 1tb of hard drive space, it’s about five days old and x plane 11 is the only thing the computer has on it. nothing else has been done or installed but the problem is... i’m getting around 4fps and five six or seven if i’m lucky. and i don’t believe that should be the case? am i right in saying that it should be giving me good frames. yet this still occurs when on the lowest of graphics and i also receive near on exactly the same frame rates when i’m on quite higher settings too. and it crashes when i load into a new part of the world in which i haven’t been yet the pc runs on windows 10 and i’m using a 24 inch bush tv as a monitor until i get one.

I am not from Laminar Research; just a flight simmer from downunder.

Does your system meet the system requirement to run X-Plane?  Have a look at the following link found at https://www.x-plane.com/kb/x-plane-11-system-requirements/  Because X-Plane is resource hungry, more so than XP10,  the Recommended System Requirements is the "norm" more so than the "exception"

What is not mentioned in the system requirements is good cooling should be considered due to heat generation from the CPU and GPU.

Found this additional information at https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lenovo-ideacentre-310s-a6-tower-pc-desktop-310s-08asr-slic310sa6#specifications  What is the speed of your processor?  The unfortunate news is AMD CPUs and GPUs do not perform as well as NVidia GPUs and Intel processors.  You have an unusual mix of both.

Is your NVidia card a dedicated unit.  Based of the above link pictures the images suggest the card is integrated with the motherboard.  Not a good proposition with X-Plane. 

As a side issue if your 24 inch tv is 1920 x 1080 configuration then there is no reason to replace it with a monitor.  Serous flight simmers are known to use up to 3 - 60 inch screens.  My new system will be 3 43 inch screens.

You have not described the specifics of your IdeaCenter machine, my guess is it has an AMD A9-9425 and a Radeon R5 Integrated video.  Just by judging form that, it’s not considered as a “Gaming” machine.  If you follow the link given by Glenfer above to compare the CPU/GPU/Memory requirements from Laminar vs. the Lenovo's, I’m afraid this PC is quite a bit behind the curve for X-Plane 11.

Do you think a A10-9700 3.8GHz Quad Core, Radeon R7 would work? And I’m talking a whole different computer here... 1TB of HDD & 8GB of DDR4 RAM

Again, if you compare A10-9700 with the Laminar’s recommended i5 6600K, the AMD is a lesser CPU.  Moreover, if I’m correct that the Radeon R7 is an integrated video, it would be very far behind the recommended GTX 1070.  In short, I don’t expect this machine could offer much FPS improvement.  When you browse the various forums and YouTube videos, you’ll notice there is a general preference for Intel and Nvidia products (CPU & GPU) over AMD’s—as far as X-Plane performance goes.

Follow the advice from disc in his last message about 2 hours ago at the time I post my message.

I don't know where you reside so here is some assistance in making a decision on what to acquire.  If you plan to purchase another PC consider a purpose built PC rather than an OFF-the-shelf (OTS) unit.  A purpose built unit gives you a greater scope to upgrade individual components over and above OTS units as and when X-Plane is developed further.

Have a look at the following link found at   https://www.wired2fire.co.uk/flight-sim  This business is in the UK and my contacts indicates it is considered as one of the best in the UK for supplying PCs suitable for X-Plane.

Alternatively have a look at the following link found at https://xforcepc.com/english/flight-simulation/flight-simulation-computers.html  Laminar Research recommends this business as the only or preferred suppliers of PCs suitable for X-Plane within the USA.

Both of these businesses use NVidia graphics cards and Intel processors to get the best benefit from X-Plane.
