I am not from Laminar Research; just a flight simmer from down under like you but on the other side of the "ditch".
Have you disabled your antivirus and malware software as a short time fix? This sometimes hinders the installation. Are you installing as the Administrator? This is a hindrance at times if not.
Are you running the official, original and genuine version of X-Plane from Laminar Research? If so it may be appropriate to attach your X-Plane installation log.txt file and the standard Log.txt file. Both files are generated when your system crashes or you shut down.
