Hi,

I've managed to create some nice looking clouds for my self using datarefs. The only annoying problem I have is the abrupt cloud changes when flying. I noticed that when the plane enters a new cell the whole cloud layer will redraw. I also noticed that sometimes the clouds will disappear completely and the reapear after a while. I reckon this is because the sim loads a clear weather situation for that metar station.

So is it possible to stop this using somesort of a dataref command or by other means. The way RWC does it is perfect, but sadly it only works combined with SkyMaxx.

Regards,

Denis

Hi,

You cannot avoid a cloud redraw when writing to some of the datarefs that affect weather.

Hi Ben,

They also redraw without editing any datarefs. Sometimes when entering a new Metar station they will redraw, or disappear etc. which really ruins the immersion. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Disabling real weather (e.g. selecting Environment -> Weather -> set weather uniformly for the whole world) will prevent any automatic changes to occur.

Considering I mostly fly on VATSIM this is not really an option. Is there any possibility that you guys will fix this in the future for XP10?

Maybe check out the plugin combination of Skymaxx Pro and Real Weather Connector. The latter has a feature called "Never change visible weather" to avoid sudden weather changes due to reloading of METAR and it's compatible with VATSIM. It's not free however...

I have that plugin, but sadly it takes a big toll on the fps if you wish to have clouds extend to the horizon. I find it unusable when flying airliners.
