how activate the autopilot a320

hi, i know that there is a switch to activate the autopilot, but it didnt do what i want, for example, ascend or descend.

I think a quick internet search will be the best help. It looks like there are a couple different A320s out there from different aircraft developers. Here's a video tutorial on how to use the A320 Neo autopilot and MCDU that might be helpful, for example.
