Same issue here, freezes when showing "Will init plugins", log only shoes errors regarding language files.

Using Windows7 64-bit, Europe DVD version updated to 10.50r3 (build 105009 64-bit). This doesn't work with a fresh install in the default directory on desktop. Looking at these forum topics this has been an issue for a lot of ppl for a week, come on ppl we need a hotfix :(

For anyone who is having problems with X-Plane freezing or not responding after launch, please follow these steps to help us investigate:

  1. When X-Plane freezes or stops responding, open the Task Manager. (Ctr + alt + delete will bring up a list with this option.)
  2. Find the X-Plane program in the list.
  3. Right click on it and pick the option to "create dump file"
  4. When it's done, the pop up will list the file location.
  5. Navigate to the file location in the file explorer window. (It's possible one of the folders in the file path will be hidden. Follow directions here to show hidden files, if needed.)
  6. Compress the dump file and send it to us on the bug reporter or link it here.

I have the same problem during application launch. It says it's not responding, when I click at the window when it freezes during the launch. I attach the dump file.

Hi Thistle82,

The link in your comment isn't working for me. Can you try again?

Dump files tend to be very large, so it may not be possible to upload it directly. In that case, if you use a service like Google Drive or Drop Box, try uploading it there and sending us a shared link.

Thanks Thistle82.

What is the message X-Plane displays above the gray bar when it freezes? Does it happen at the same spot every time?
commented by (10 points)

Hello, thank you for your reply.

I attach a screen shot.

This happens every time the application launches, however the progress bar does seem to move at a very slow speed. Once I waited on purpose for 1 hour and it didn't even reach 2/3 of its length.

Every now and then, there is a message from Windows that the process has stopped and will end, with a request to send a crash report to Microsoft.

And also, there is no difference whether I try to run the 32 or 64bit instance of the game.

Submitted log and dump file via bug tracker. The linux version runs fine though on the same PC!

So... any reasonable fix for this issue?
commented by (19.3k points)

Some people have reported 10.51r2 has fixed this. If it has not for you, please send a link to a new dump file from 10.51r2 to the bug reporter as this version has additional reporting capabilities.

Thanks! I am eager to try it out, but I can't do it automatically, because the launcher freezes once I start it up!

Can you tell me how I can download the patch manually?

Cheers!

Try downloading the latest installer and running it manually. Simply pick the update option and proceed.
