X-Plane has a very basic interface that will read a .txt file checklist. It's not a very robust feature, honestly.
There is a nice free plugin called XChecklist that you might prefer to use, rather than the default. We covered using it in an email newsletter earlier this year if you'd like more info on it. You can also try it out with the free demo to see if it will meet your needs.
