X Plane 11 Evening or morning flight light to dark transitions are not smooth.

Question

When am flying in X-Plane 11 during the morning or evening hours I do not get a smooth transition from the light to dark. It appears as steps from light to dark. My system is Asus ROG board with i7-6700K, Nvidia GTX 980 TI card. I have updated my system with the latest GTX drivers. Please see the attached pictures. This can't be normal as i have been watching videos of X Plane 11 on youtube and the transitions are smooth. Thanks for any help!!
