Why does my X-plane keep restarting

Question

Lately every time i open up x plane it completely resets all my stuff from my button configs to the rendering options. I have already had to change everything back 3 times. How do I get X plane to stop this?

X-Plane 10 has an option in the operation and warnings screen that will allow you to discard changes to preferences. Please make sure that is NOT checked and it should start saving your changes.
