Can you use the Xplane digitial key with an existing DVD version of Xplane 10?

I have used Xplane 10 for several years...I just purchased the bundle.  My question is whether I can use the digital key on the existing Xplane 10 to avoid having to insert a DVD to fly in Xplane 10? Otherwise, can you install the Xplane 10 digital over the top of the DVD version and not lose any settings etc?

Yes, you can use the digital key with the DVD install you currently have. You can remove the disc from your computer, and after a few days X-Plane will prompt you to reauthorize. That's when you can enter your product key instead of the DVD to unlock the simulator.
