MD80 APU not starting

Question

I was unable to start the apu on the MD80. Tried many ways from a cold start and was unsuccessful.
The only way to get the airplane to start was by selecting the option in the drop down menu to have the electrical systems all up and running

What I do is turn on

BATTERY POWER ON

 START PUMPS

APU AIR ON

APU MASTER RUN (and hold it until running)

Then select APU busses to on

that's all..
