How does the OBS setting work in X-Plane 10 Mobile?

Question

When I tune to a VOR using the map, the OBS gets set to some radial, but not the radial I'm on as the CDI needle doesn't center. If I tune again, the OBS is set to another radial but still not the one I'm on.

I don't think this is random, but I still don't see how It works.

How is the OBS working on X-Plane 10 Mobile?

Can you provide more details? I looked at this on the C172 & 777 and it behaved exactly how I expected it to. Is this only happening in one plane? Please be as specific as possible.
