I keep getting missing scenery errors from the digital download version.  My software key is valid, checks out when I start but no matter where I start from in the US, I get an error that says I'm missing scenery.  I try to download missing scenery, program does some things for several minutes, then I'm back to the same error each and every time.  Please see attached error message from X-Plane 11.

You should update your X-Plane 11. The installer will guide you through the process of updating your copy of X-Plane 11 to the latest version.
Scenery can be added or removed at any point in the future by re-running the installer. When the X-System installer comes up saying “You already have X‑Plane 11 installed on this computer,” click the Add or Remove Scenery button. You can read more about installation of X-Plane here.

i have gone through all that, I know how to install and run and update X-Plane, I've been using X-Plane for a few versions.  My current version doesn't say beta, as I updated it, now says 11.00 64-bit.  Actually, about X-Plane shows 11.00r1 build 110025 64-bit.

Then, I do it again....

  • Step 1,- launch installer
  • Step 2 - new flight or resume flight, doesn't matter (the screenat the bottom always says "reading new scenery files", takes several minute,)
  • Step 3 - in aircraft on runway, I get error below
Missing scenery
This region has missing scenery!
Areas with no scenery will have nothing but water around them.
The missing file is:  +40-090/+40-088.dsf
Would you like to install the missing scenery now.

I click install missing missing scenery, then everything starts all over again.

You can check the scenery .dsf files in your install. Global Scenery > X-Plane 11 Global Scenery > Earth Nav data then find the folder listed in the warning X-Plane should give you. Check and see if the .dsf file is 0kb. If they are, try deleting the 0kb files so that the installer realizes it needs to download them again.

I don't know why someone would answer a question for me, as what was given was not the answer.

I had to completely uninstall X-Plane 11, reinstall and do an update and then I was fine.

Deleting the global scenery folder also didn't work.
