Problem configuring Thrustmaster USB Joystick

I have a Thrustmaster USB Joystick.  I do not have pedals.  When I was using the free trial, roll and yaw were locked together.  Now, It seems I can only program in roll or yaw, but not both.   I can't seem to find an answer in the  manual nor from online sources.  What am I missing?

You cannot set one axis to more than one function, such as roll & yaw. If your joystick has a twist axis, we recommend setting that one to yaw. Setting any axis to yaw will take the place of pedals and also turn off any auto rudder correction that is in place when flying with just a mouse for example.
