I'm a new customer and working my way up to full simulator controls.
I fly RC helicopters and have a Spektrum DX6i transmitter. I thought I'd try that with X-Plane 10.
I have a USB adapter cable that plugs into the training port of the DX6i. That cable goes into a black box, then exits to a USB cable that then goes to the computer.
I'm using my "sim" model on the transmitter when connected, which has all the rates and things centered or set to zero to be the most generic.
X-Plane 10 recognizes it and asks to calibrate, which I think I've done. I did have to go into settings to re-map roll, yaw, pitch and collective. The red bars move with the sticks and do go green after moving through extents.
But here's the thing... the bars seem to "wrap" in some cases. That is, they might start high, then as the stick is moved, wrap to the low end of the bar indicator and start rising again.
I tried flying with them, but X-Plane followed the erratic wrapping, which made the helicopter completely uncontrollable.
I've experimented with "use position as center" and a couple other buttons in Settings I could find.
So...
Is this just a complete waste of time and I should get a MileHighWings adapter or a dummy transmitter?
My goals are:
(1) Eventually get full scale helicopter controls and VR gear...and...
(2) Be able to use X-Plane in practicing my RC flying...and...
(3) To eventually use X-Plane to help in a custom, scratch-built RC aircraft project as my aerodynamics simulator.
Please point me in the right direction, oh X-Plane sages.
