We recommend that X-Plane be installed on the desktop to make sure no files accidentally get tagged read-only.

If that is not the issue, try:

Check that the destination folder is writable.

Check that your anti-virus software hasn't erroneously flagged X-Plane.

Make sure DVD isn't scratched or damaged, etc.
