Long time lover of flight sim's and I want to make the plunge to buying X-Plane. However can my Mac Book Pro handle it??

Specs:

MBP: 13 inch, Mid 2012

2.9 GHz Intel Core i7

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB

If so, what else would I need to make it run smoothly? I appreciate the help to the newbie on the block.

X-Plane 10 requires, at the minimum, Dual Core, 2.5 GHz or faster, 4 GB of RAM and a video card with at least 1 GB of VRAM. You can also download X-Plane 10 for Mac OS X to check it.

You can red more here and download the demo here.

I guess the video card is my only confusion. Does mine fit the bill?

It could be a problem, but you can check it by downloading X-Plane 10 Demo for Mac OS X.

Yes, however Intel HD 5000 would have been better. Processor is fine and RAM seems to do it. Make sure you have enough space free, and start by putting graphics on lowest, then build up. See what frame rate you are comfortable with. Put graphics low especially if you don't want the computer to overheat and start making noise :)
