You should make sure your rudder is properly installed and recognised by your operating system.
Unplugging it and plugging it again might help.
Maybe you should also try to calibrated the rudder again, in X-plane setting.
You could also run the installer so that files that could possibly be damaged can be replaced.
Finally, you could try and delete (or move for backup) your X-plane 10\Output\Preferences folder.
If this does not solve the problem, you should include your X-plane 10\log.txt file.
