I'm running on a Mac Pro (2013 - black can) under OS X 10.12.6.  I have not used X-Plane for a while.   I just upgraded to 11 and discovered that my Saitek Cyborg 3D no longer works.  It seems the Mac no longer supports it. What joysticks will work with X-Plane 11 under OS X 10.12 or later?

In general, any modern USB device should work. X-Plane views them all as a set of axes and buttons, so even a game pad should work with the sim.

If we have a joystick profile for a device, it definitely works with X-Plane 11. You can see a full list of devices with .joy files in Resources > joystick configs.

I seem to have marked this as 'best answer" but I didn't mean to.

I'm running on a Mac Pro that has a track pad not a mouse.  My old joystick is not recognized.  When I upgraded to X-Plane 11 I did it through Steam rather than a digital download.  That may have been part of my problem.

I still have the DVD version of X-Plane 10, but my Mac Pro has no disk drive so I can't run it properly.  I tried the demo mode, but that does not recognize the joystick either.  Version 10 does not have a joystick folder in the resources folder.

I found this thread: http://forums.x-pilot.com/forums/topic/12996-macos-sierra-x-plane-11-cannot-find-usb-joystick-saitek-cyborg-3d-gold/

My original question remains: What joysticks are known to work with X-Plane 11 on a Mac?

It's more than a year ago that you asked your original question, and you've probably made a choice of flight stick already, but I too am looking for a joystick or flight stick recommendation with Mac. From what I've read, it seems that you go with what the majority of other flight simulator users prefer - and not necessarily Mac. As mentioned, X-Plane recognises USB input. Logitech brand seems to garner plenty of support, so is probably what I'll choose. Meantime I bumble on with a w/less mouse.

The following link is dated now, put could well still hold true in terms of advice proffered about recommended joysticks  https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/64277-joystick-that-works-well-w-osx-mac/
