FMC not working

Question

When I go to add data to the FMC all of the letter and number keys do nothing. But the dash and different page buttons do work.

The cursor does change to a hand indicating that the keys probably do serve a purpose.

Also I am not using steam or anything like that. I downloaded this file straight from the x-plane web site.

If the scratch pad shows a warning, be sure to clear it first. Then the keys should work. If that doesn't fix it, check for add ons or other factors, as I could not see any issue once I cleared the "navdata out of date" warning from my FMC.
