Is there a way to import an ESRI shapefile into X-Plane?

Question

I need to import airport data (runways, taxiways, etc.) into X-Plane. I currently have this data in shapefile format. Does anyone know of a method of importing the data or converting it to another format that X-Plane can read?

I'm not familiar with files of this type but the X-Plane developer site will have info & tools that have been developed to import or convert data for X-Plane.
