X-Plane sees all joysticks as a collection of axes and buttons, so nearly any USB device should work. It's a matter of preference and what type of budget you're willing to spend. (FWIW, any device in the resources > joystick configs folder that has "Mac" in the name is a joystick that has been tested with X-Plane & used to create the configuration file.)
